The mixing of my new album has been completed. Next week the mixes are off to the mastering engineer. The release of the album is planned for the late June / early July of this year. More details as soon as possible.

The new album is moving along quiet nicely. All the recording is finished and I am now in the mixing stage. I find this stage in the process to be just as artistically creative as is the recording and writing stage. If you have the right tools to work with, you can take your recorded material to the next level by molding your songs with eq, dynamic processors and delays. I’m hoping to have the mixing complete sometime in March. Next step in the process is the mastering, this will be done by an outside source, and then from there the actually manufacture of the CD.

One other step in the process is the cover art work. To be honest with you all, I have no idea what I want. Hopefully, one morning I’ll wake up with and inspired concept.

Hello all, I hope you've had a great summer season!
It looks like have enough material written to actually think about
releasing the next Electric Mustard CD. The recording has slowly been
progressing over the summer months. So now with all the summer
activities now behind me, this week I started compiling what I've done
and it is quite a bit more than I thought. Recording will continue at
full speed during the fall and winter months. For this CD I plan to
have several guest musicians to appear on it. I think that this will
bring the music to the next level so to speak. I would expect to have
something released within the first half of 2008.
If you've been too busy yourself to check in at the site during your
summer, two new songs have been posted on the "Official Electric
Mustard MySpace" site(www.myspace.com/electricmustardmusic). Pop over
and check out "Urban Kaliedescope" and Debbie's Gruv". These are just
rough mix and unmastered versions.

In the meantime, if you haven't already, pick-up your copy(s) of

I have posted a new song called "Urban Kaleidoscope" on MySpace www.myspace.com/electricmustardmusic . This song is in the “downtempo” style. Please check it out if you have the time. Although, I don’t think I’m going to have it posted for too long.

Also, for you tech heads, I just up graded the studio to Ableton Live 6. This up grade includes video editing so who knows what that could bring to the party.

2007 is in full swing and this year I have been making a ton of changes. To start the year off, Studio 227 has been gutted, refinished, refurbished and renamed as “Atomic Sun Studio”. I will be posting pictures of the make-over soon so please check later to see them. To go along with the new studio, I changed the look of the web site. I hope you find it pleasing. Also, some new music that has been rattling around my head for a while is being recorded. Some of this may find it onto the next CD.

I have posted a new track called "The Dawn of Machines" on MySpace. This is just a 3 min. edit of the full track. This piece is more on the ambient side of things and is in 7/4 time. The motivation behind the creation of this piece is that the sequenced sounding parts were played with my Roland V-Drums which were triggering a couple different softsynths.

Signs of the fall season are all around, red and brown leaves blow across the yard, frost covered grass in the morning and sunset is now at about 5:00 pm. This is my favorite time of year and I’m starting to feel some inspiration to get back to writing and recording new music. Studio 227 is about to go through some remodeling both externally(some new walls) and internally(some new software). I figured that I should get in there, before the rebuilding starts, and put down a couple ideas that have been floating around in my head since summer. This past weekend I entered the studio for the first time in 7 or 8 months. It was a great feeling to be in there cutting takes and tweaking knobs. I actually ended up putting down the basic tracks for two separate pieces, both fall in the “downtempo” style. Had the opportunity to try a new softsynth on one of the pieces and it worked perfectly for what I was trying to convey (new toys are so much fun!). I’m also conceptualizing a piece that will be preformed exclusively using Roland V-drums as a MIDI triggering device for various sound modules. I think the outcome will be interesting.
Like I said, the studio is going to be under reconstruction soon so I doubt I’ll finish anything before then. But when something is completed I will post it on the site so please check back from time to time.
